Bachelor's Pudding

Ingredients
  Dried fruit 3 Ounce
  Plain flour 6 Ounce
  Salt 1 Pinch
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Sugar 3 Ounce
  Breadcrumbs 2 Ounce
  Chopped suet 3 Ounce
  Egg 1
  Milk 4 Fluid Ounce (To Mix, 1 Gill)
Directions

Grease a pudding basin.
Clean the fruit.
Mix together the sifted flour, salt, baking-powder, sugar, breadcrumbs and suet.
Stir in the dried fruit.
Add the well-beaten egg and some of the milk.
Stir, adding more milk as required, until the mixture drops easily from the spoon.
Turn the mixture into the basin; cover with greased paper, and steam for 2-2 1/2 hr When ready, turn out of the basin and dredge well with sugar.
