Syrup Sponge Pudding

Ingredients
  Plain flour 6 Ounce
  Breadcrumbs 6 Ounce
  Chopped suet 4 Ounce
  Castor sugar 2 Ounce
  Ground ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Soda bicarbonate 1 Teaspoon (Leveled)
  Salt 1 Pinch
  Egg 1
  Golden syrup 2 Tablespoon
  Treacle 1 Tablespoon
  Milk 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Grease a basin and, if liked, put an extra tablesp of golden syrup in the bottom.
Mix together the flour, breadcrumbs, suet, sugar, ginger, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
Beat the egg with the golden syrup, treacle and a little of the milk.
Stir this into the other ingredients, using more milk if required, to mix to a very soft dropping consistency.
Put the mixture into the basin; cover with greased paper.
Steam for 1 1/2-2 hr.
