Easy Ginger Pudding

Ingredients
  Plain flour 1⁄2 Pound
  Ground ginger 1 Teaspoon (Leveled)
  Salt 1 Pinch
  Soda bicarbonate 1 Teaspoon (Leveled)
  Chopped suet 4 Ounce (Finely Chopped)
  Sugar 3 Ounce
  Treacle 1 Tablespoon
  Egg 1
  Milk 2 Tablespoon (As Desired To Mix)
Directions

Grease a 2-pt. basin.
Prepare the suet.
Sift the flour, ginger, salt and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl.
Add the finely-chopped suet and sugar.
Stir in the treacle, beaten egg and sufficient milk to make a soft dropping consistency.
Put the mixture into the basin; cover.
Steam for 2 hr.
Turn out and serve with a sweet sauce.

I used to amke this a lot in Australia. I live in the US now so I make it with cooking marge, instead of suet, and a little molasses if i don't have any treacle or golden syrup. Honey would work too. It's delicious witha sweet white sauce.A lemon sauce is also good.
