Jeff Davis Pudding The Briers

Ingredients
  Suet 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped fine
  Molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sour milk 1 Cup (16 tbs) (In Which 11/2 Teaspoons Soda Are Dissolved)
  Soda 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon (Dissolved With Sour Milk)
  Flour 3 Cup (48 tbs) (Save 1/3 Cup To Dredge Fruits)
  Raisins 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Currants 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Take the suet and pour the other ingredients over it.
Put into a pudding bag which has been moistened and rolled in flour.
Place in a vessel of boiling water and boil 4 hours 3 hours is enough if it boils constantly.
