|Egg yolk||1 , slightly beaten|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
1. In a 1 1/2 quart bowl, combine sugar and cornstarch, mixing thoroughly; stir in milk. Microwave at 100% (high) 3 to 4 minutes or until mixture is thickened and bubbly; stir every 1 minute.
2. Stir a small amount of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks; stir yolk mixture into hot mixture. Microwave at 100% (high) 45 seconds or until thickened; stir every 15 seconds.
3. Stir in butter or margarine until melted. Stir in vanilla. Pour into dessert dishes and refrigerate until set.
