Golden Bread Pudding
|Bread slices||9 (Two Days Old Bread Slices)|
|Soft margarine||1 Tablespoon|
|Raisins||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Milliliter)|
|Scalded milk||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs) (625 Milliliter)|
|Eggs||2 , well beaten|
|Salt||1⁄4 Teaspoon (1 Milliliter)|
|Nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon (1 Milliliter)|
|Vanilla||1 Teaspoon (5 Milliliter)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Milliliter)|
Trim crusts from bread or leave on as you wish and spread each slice generously with soft margarine and cut in 4.
Arrange a layer, margarine side up,.in a greased deep baking dish.
Sprinkle with a few raisins.
Add another layer of bread and raisins.
Top with third layer of bread.
Combine remaining ingredients and pour over the top.
Press down lightly with the back of a spoon.
Sprinkle top with a little extra brown sugar and a few shakes of cinnamon.
Bake at 350F (180C) for 50 to 60 minutes or until centre is set and top puffy and brown.
Cool slightly and spoon into serving dishes.
Pass pouring cream.
