Place prunes in a saucepan with water.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low.
Simmer for 25 minutes or until prunes are soft.
Drain prunes and combine in saucepan with honey, apple juice or apple cider vinegar, lemon peel, cinnamon, and allspice.
Simmer over low heat, stirring and breaking up the prunes with a spoon for 10 minutes or until the mixture is very thick.
Let cool before using or storing.
