Anatomy Lessons With Vanilla Macaroons
What you see in the photograph above is not a human body chart but an array of macaroons made to look like human body organs. If you have forgotten the anatomy lessons of school, here is a chance to revive your memory, with vanilla-flavored macaroons. Cake afficianado Emma Thomas, who also goes by the weird alter-ego “Miss Cakehead”, has come up with a new line of macaroons, which are filled with vanilla cream but are designed as human anatomical parts. We mean intestines, kidney, brain, male and female reproductive systems, etc. Hope you are not psyched out by now. If not, then continue reading.
Going Back To School
The anatomical macaroons are the latest creation of Miss Cakehead and these were designed for her upcoming event, “Eat Your Heart Out”. The event will be held between October 26 and 29, 2012 at London’s St. Bart’s Pathology Museum. Thomas is famous for her affection for the macabre and she is known to create creepy cakes alright. As a part of her macaroon line, the cake shop will display macaroons shaped to look like human body organs. Miss Thomas sounds like the Thai artist Kittiwat Unarrom, who bakes breads in the form of grotesque body parts.
Inspired By The Body
When asked about the inspiration behind this weird series of baked goods, Miss Cakehead wrote an email to a website, explaining her motivation. In fact, the human macaroons are not all that you will get to eat or see at the event. She wrote, “’Riddled’ a five-tier wedding cake featuring the painted cell structures of STD’s, cupcakes iced in the style of various skin diseases, unique anatomical macaroons, fungus infected toenail cookies, a smallpox inspired tray bake, a cake taking the form of a Victorian style anatomical wax head complete with exposed brain, Petri-dish vodka jelly and cocktails based on the stomach contents of a suicide victim are jus some of the ‘tasty’ treats already confirmed.” Well, we are sure you must be dying to be a part of this event after hearing what all is there on display! One thing is for sure, these macaroons are going to be included in the list of the top 10 strangest American foods.
You may be forgiven to be petrified of these macaroons, which look like mutations, but are delicious, nevertheless. These treats will come in handy, especially if you are looking for something that would suit the appetite on a Halloween night. In October this year, what you will see at the event are macaroons shaped to look like brain, heart, stomach, lungs, liver, large and small intestines, kidneys, etc., and all of them would be vanilla-flavored.
This is not the first time that the food has served more than its stated purpose. Artists have been using food items to create food art like flags, accessories, and Jewellery. You must also have read about the most strangely packaged foods, but these macaroons literally take the cake. If the bizarre is your turn-on, then you should definitely book yourself a ticket to Miss Cakehead’s event.
