Worcestershire Sauce Substitute Ideas
Those who are familiar with Welsh rarebit, Caesar salad, or Oysters Kirkpatrick, would also be familiar with the importance of Worcestershire Sauce in the recipe. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t go for these recipes if this sauce is not available, You definitely can, with these wonderful substitutes:
1) A-1 Steak Sauce
You can use A-1 steak sauce in equal measure as Worcestershire Sauce. This substitute works especially when you choose it for a recipe of steak marinade or beef.
2) Soy Sauce
Soy sauce does the trick as well, especially for a marinade recipe. You can use soy sauce in equal amount and, though, it will taste a bit different, nobody will complain.
3) Tamarind/Soy/White Vinegar
You can make another substitute for Worcestershire sauce by mixing together a teaspoon each of tamarind paste, soy sauce, and white vinegar. To this mixture, add 2 cloves (powdered), and hot pepper sauce and you have your substitute ready.
Another different substitute would be sugar with Tabasco sauce. Use ¼ teaspoon of sugar in 6-7 drops of Tabasco sauce to make a substitute for 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce.
5) Red Wine Vinegar/Fish Sauce/Salt
In barbecue recipes, a substitute can be made with a little amount of red wine vinegar, mixed with a little bit of fish sauce, and salt.
6) Homemade Worcestershire Sauce
All the above substitute ideas are for occasions when you are short on time. However, if you have time at hand, you can make your own homemade version of Worcestershire Sauce. You will need apple cider vinegar, water, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, mustard powder, onion powder, ginger, cinnamon, and pepper.
