How to Soften Dried Carob

Carobs, an important element in both human and animal foods, are considered as a healthy alternative to chocolates, and are made from pods of carob tree. If the carob is sun dried, the carob pods need to be softened. To soften dried carob, you need a saucepan, a large bowl and a plastic wrap and follow these steps:

1. Keep carob into the large bowl and use your hands to break up the pods.

2. Fill water in a saucepan and boil it over medium-high heat. Once boiled, pour the water over the carob and allow it to submerge completely. It is recommended to start the process at night since it is a time-consuming process. Use plastic wrap to seal the bowl.

3. After 8 hours, peel the plastic wrap and nest a strainer in the saucepan and pour the hydrated carob pods into it.
