Lettuce wraps are common in Asian cuisine and recently restaurants across America have adapted this in many of their menus. If you know how to cut lettuce for lettuce wraps these delicious recipes can be enjoyed at home too. All you need to do is the replace the wraps for pita, tortilla or even bread with lettuce in most of the dishes. Lettuce wraps are definitely more healthy since they are full of fiber and has very low carbohydrates. Once you become an expert in cutting lettuce there is no turning back since lettuce wraps taste absolutely amazing.


 


Cutting Various Types of Lettuce for Lettuce Wraps


 


The way you cut lettuce would determine the success you would meet making lettuce wraps. The lettuce wraps must hold the filling that you have planned without getting too soggy or even giving way and making it messy. Thus learn to cut lettuce perfectly prior to making wraps with them.


 


Iceberg Lettuce – use a small paring knife to cut lettuce of the iceberg type. Cut the core of the lettuce and place it with hole (where core was) down on a cutting board. First, cut the lettuce in half and then in quarters. You have got your wraps. The cut quarters have to be separated into individual cups. They are in various sizes and require thorough cleaning prior to use. The outer leaves can be removed since these might be dirty.


 


Radicchio – similar to an iceberg lettuce, radicchio has to be cut in half after removal of core. A sparing knife can do this job too. After removing outer leaves, the rest have to be separated and washed prior to use.


 


Romaine – there is no need to cut lettuce here, all that is required is to remove the core and separate the leaves. The leaves should be washed and dried before used. Drying can be facilitated through a salad spinner or just pat drying with towels.


 


Green Leaf Lettuce – the individual leaves are easy to separate and there is not much of cutting lettuce required here. The core can be separated and you will get big lettuce leaves which are ideal for lettuce wraps.
