Clove trees usually grow in a warm and very humid climate – if you are lucky enough to stay in any such place which experiences this type of weather, you are try out growing clove trees. You just need to follow some easy steps so that you can grow cloves at home and use them for medicinal as well as other purposes.

Clove seeds: Clove trees grow from clove seeds – it is important that you purchase some fresh clove seeds from any garden or any nursery.

Area for planting: You need to select an area where you will plant the clove seeds. You will also need to choose a space which will house the tree once it is transplanted. For planting the clove seeds, you have to look for a place which is well shielded from direct sunrays so that the young plants as well as seeds are not damaged during the growing phases. Clove trees grow best in any shady space – so avoid direct sunlight.

Soil: You have to prepare the soil very well. You need to mix organic material which includes Fully grown clove treecompost, peat moss, sand, loam in the soil with the help of a shovel and hoe. The soil should be well drained and ensure that the soil is never over watered as it shall damage the seeds as well as the plant during its growing stage. If you add organic materials in the soil, it shall help to drain any excess water from the soil very quickly.

Planting seeds: This is a crucial process and needs to be done very carefully. When you are planting the seeds, you have to plant them into holes which are 2 cm deep and at least 3 cm away from each other. Once you notice that the seedlings have started to germinate, you can transplant them into the area which will be their permanent growing area. It takes around 15 days time for the seeds to germinate. You have to be a little careful when you are transporting the seeds from one place to another so that you dont damage them. You need to transport them by placing them in small polythene bags which have organic materials and also some soil.

Greenhouse: When you have planted these clove trees in your greenhouse or your garden, you should plant them at least 15 feet from one another. You will find that these plants are growing up to 30 feet tall and are spreading almost 15 feet.

Care of the clove trees- You should water clove trees every week with at least 1.5 inches of water. If you find that the soil is drying up in between the time, you can add some more water. Keep checking in between to see that the soil does not dry. You can also dig shallow trenches just around these trees which can be used for watering. These trenches will also help in the process of fertilization. You can add some slow release fertilizers in these trenches which shall keep the tree well fertilized all through the year.

Clove seeds are easily available at online stores which deal in herbs and spices...you can buy them online, in case you cant manage to get them in your local market.
