Perfect Mashed Potatoes
|Russet potatoes/Yukon gold potatoes||2 Pound, peeled & cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (1/2 Stick)|
|Milk||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Freshly ground pepper||To Taste|
In a large saucepan cover the potatoes with water and bring to a boil.
Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork.
Drain the potatoes and set aside.
In the same saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the milk and heat until little bubbles form around the edges.
Return the potatoes to the saucepan, reduce the heat to low.
and mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth.
Season with salt and pepper.
