Top Stove Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Pared potatoes 4 , sliced
  Carrots 4 , scrubbed unpared and sliced
  Onion 1 Medium
  Butter/Margarine, fat/ salad oil 1 Tablespoon
  Processed american cheddar cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs), diced
  Crumbled crackers 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

In a saucepan, heat combined water and milk to boiling.
Add salt, pepper, potatoes, carrots, and onion; then cover, and cook over medium heat for about 15 min., or until vegetables are tender.
Do not drain, Add butter, diced cheese, and crumbled crackers; heat in covered sauce.
