Russet potato | 1 Pound , washed, peeled, sliced | |
Onion | 1 Small , sliced | |
Salt | 1 1/2 Teaspoon , divided | |
Butter | 4 Teaspoon , divided | |
Flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Black pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Water | 1 Quart |
MAKING
1. In a pot, place onion and potato, cover with water, add 1 teaspoon of salt and cook for about 10 minutes, until fork tender.
2. In another pot, add 1 tablespoon of butter and flour, cook for about a minute.
3. Add 1/3rd of the milk, stir and cook until thick, add in the next 1/3rd cup, again cook stirring until thick, reapeat for the remaining 1/3rd cup of milk.
4. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
5. In a baking dish, place the drained potatoes, cover with sauce and bake for about 25 minutes.
SERVING
6. Season with some parsley and serve.
