Fresh Pears In Port

Ingredients
  Pears 3 Pound (Peeled And Cored)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Port wine 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Orange juice 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Orange peel 1 , grated
Directions

In large saucepan, drop pears into 1/2 cup water and sugar; simmer, covered, until soft, about 30 minutes.
Remove from heat and add wine, orange juice, and grated orange peel.
Mix gently.
Chill, if de- sired.
Makes 6 servings.
