  Thick pork chops 6
  Packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Creme de cassis 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Red apples 2 , cored, not pared
  Butter 1 Tablespoon
  Dry white wine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Pistachio nuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped preserved ginger 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)

Flatten the chops to 3/4 inch thickness.
Place in a shallow baking dish and set in a 400°F oven until browned on one side.
Meanwhile, in a small skillet heat brown sugar until melted, stirring frequently.
Stir in creme de cassis and continue to cook until mixture is red.
Reduce oven temperature to 350°F.
Turn chops and season with salt.
Spoon syrup over them.
Bake chops 20 minutes, or until tender.
Meanwhile, cut apples into thick slices.
Cook slices until just tender in the butter and wine heated in a saucepan.
Arrange the chops in a row overlapping on a hot platter and sprinkle with nuts.
Arrange the apple slices at one side and fill centers with preserved ginger.
