Zesty Pork And Beans
|Pork and beans in tomato sauce||1 Pound|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Chopped onion||2 Tablespoon|
|Garlic salt||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Chili sauce/Catsup||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 350Â°.
In skillet, cook bacon until crisp.
Drain on paper towel, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings.
Combine the drippings with remaining ingredients in 1-quart casserole.
Sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
Bake, uncovered, 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly and heated through.
If desired, combine all ingredients in skillet and simmer, covered, 10 minutes.
For additional flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon dry or prepared mustard; 1 can (8 1/2 oz.) crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits, drained; 1 apple, chopped; 1/2 green pepper, chopped; or 1 to 2 cups sliced wieners, cubed ham or luncheon meat.
