Wash plums and poke a few holes into each with a toothpick.
Place in slow cooker.
Add water to half the depth of the fruit.
Add cloves, cinnamon, and lemon peel.
Cover and cook on low 3 to 4 hours or until tender.
Add sugar to sweeten.
Serve warm or cold with a dollop of sour cream.
