Plum Party Mold

Ingredients
  Canned purple plums 30 Ounce (Reserve Syrup, One 1 Pound 14 Ounce Can, 2 Cups)
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon
  Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
  Vanilla ice cream 1 Quart, softened
Directions

Pit and peel plums, then sieve into saucepan.
Blend a few tablespoons syrup into cornstarch to make a smooth paste.
Stir cornstarch mixture, remaining syrup and lemon juice into plums.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick and clear; chill.
Pour 1/2 cup sauce into 7-cup mold; freeze until firm.
Set aside 1/4 cup sauce for garnish.
Fill mold, alternating layers of ice cream and sauce; freeze until firm.
