French Bread Pizza With Ham
|French bread dough||1 (For Crusty Bread)|
|Canned tomato paste/No. 2 can tomatoes / 6 medium fresh tomatoes||12 Ounce (2 Cans, 6 Ounce Each, Basil Flavored)|
|Salad oil||1 Tablespoon|
|Sweet basil||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|Cheese||1⁄2 Pound (Mozzarella / Cheddar / Swiss)|
|Cooked lean ham/1/2 pound italian garlic sausage / 3/4 pound pork link sausage||1⁄4 Pound|
|Chopped onion||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Grated romano cheese||2 Ounce|
Prepare dough for Crusty French Bread.
Let rise until it doubles in bulk and has a slightly sour, yeasty odor.
Cut into 4 portions, cover, let rest 10 minutes.
Roll out into 8-inch circles.
Lift into pie pans.
Press out gently until it is uniformly 1/4 inch thick in bottom and slightly thicker on sides.
Brush dough with salad oil.
Quickly spread tomato paste or tomatoes over bottom.
Sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon sweet basil over canned or fresh tomatoes.
Sprinkle in grated cheese, then the slivers of ham or half-cooked sausage, the onion and last the grated Romano cheese.
Use pastry brush to pat thin film of salad oil over top.
Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and about 3/4 teaspoon of crumbled oregano.
Bake immediately in a hot oven (450° F.) until thoroughly done, about 20 minutes.
Serve blistering hot cut in wedges.
