Beefy Pizza Subs
|Olive oil||1 Tablespoon|
|Sliced mushrooms||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Green bell pepper||1 , cut into thin strips|
|Onion||1 Medium, cut into thin wedges|
|Garlic clove||1 Large, minced|
|Dried basil/Dried oregano||1 Teaspoon|
|Red pepper flakes||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Thinly sliced cooked flank steak/6 ounce deli roast beef||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), cut into strips|
|Pizza sauce/Tomato pasta sauce||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Crusty rolls||4 (8 Inch Length)|
|Thinly sliced provolone cheese/Thinly sliced mozzarella cheese||6 Ounce (Mild Variety)|
1. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, green pepper, onion, garlic, basil and red pepper flakes; cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until softened. Stir in beef and pizza sauce; cook until heated through. Remove from heat; season with salt and pepper to taste.
2. Cut rolls along 1 side and open; layer with cheese slices. Place on baking sheet under preheated broiler for 1 minute or until cheese melts. Watch carefully. Spoon beef mixture into rolls.
