Caramelized Onion, Walnut, And Blue Cheese Pizza
|Red onions||5 Medium, peeled|
|Freshly ground black pepper||To Taste|
|Baked italian bread shell||16 Ounce (1 Piece, Such As Boboli)|
|Crumbled blue cheese||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Walnut pieces||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
To Cook Onions: Thinly slice onions by hand or in a food processor with the thin (2 mm) slicing blade; you should have about 5 cups.
Melt butter in large skillet.
Add onions and cook slowly over low heat, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden.
This should take about 30 minutes.
It may be necessary to adjust the heat.
Season generously with salt and pepper.
(Onions may be refrigerated up to 2 days.) To Bake: Preheat oven to 450°F.
Place pizza shell on baking sheet.
Spread the onion mixture evenly over the top.
Sprinkle with blue cheese and walnuts.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Let cool 2 minutes before slicing.
