Tasty Little Pizza Snacks
|Italian sausage||1 Pound|
|Bulk pork sausage||1 Pound|
|Onion||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Green pepper||1⁄2 , chopped|
|Dried oregano||1 Tablespoon|
|Fennel seeds||1 Tablespoon|
|Garlic powder||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|American cheese||16 Ounce, cut in cubes (1 Package)|
|Mozzarella cheese||8 Ounce, cut in cubes (2 Packages)|
|Rye bread||8 Ounce|
Remove casing from Italian sausage; crumble into a large skillet.
Add hot sausage, onion, and green pepper; cook until meat is browned.
Drain well on paper towels.
Return meat mixture to skillet, and add oregano, fennel seeds, and garlic powder; heat gently over low heat.
Stir in cheeses; cook until melted, and remove from heat.
Spread a scant tablespoon of meat mixture on each bread slice.
Place slices in a single layer on large baking sheets; freeze.
When slices are frozen, place in plastic bags and keep frozen until slices are needed.
