|Yellow onion||1 Small, peeled and chopped|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), peeled and minced|
|Uncooked bulgur||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Cracked Wheat)|
|Chicken broth/Beef broth||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Black pepper||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
|Dried sage||1⁄4 Teaspoon, crumbled|
1. Melt the butter in a 2-quart saucepan over moderate heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook, uncovered, for 1 minute.
2. Add the bulgur, and cook, stirring, for 1 minute to coat the bulgur with the butter. Stir in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper, and the sage if used. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. The bulgur will be chewy.
