Blend 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl.
Cut in 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon shortening with a pastry blender until pieces are the size of small peas.
Sprinkle a blend of 2 tablespoons water and 4 drops red food coloring, a tablespoon at a time, over mixture, tossing with a fork until mixture is evenly moistened Gather pastry into a ball.
Roll out, on a lightly floured surface, 1 inch larger than an inverted 9-inch pie pan.
Line the pie pan with pastry.
Roll pastry edge under, even with outer rim of pan; flute edge.
Prick bottom and sides with fork.
Bake at 475Â°F 8 to 10 minutes.
Cool on wire rack.
