Mincemeat For Pies
|Ground beef||7 Pound|
|Apples||10 Pound, peeled, cored, ground|
|Seedless raisins||2 Pound|
|Cinnamon||3 Ounce (3 Heaping Tablespoon)|
|Ground cloves||2 Teaspoon|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Apple cider||1 1⁄2 Quart|
|Apricot brandy/Peach brandy||1⁄5 Quart|
Brown the ground beef in a skillet, stirring until crumbly; drain.
Combine the ground beef, apples, sugar and raisins in a large kettle; mix well.
Stir in a mixture of the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
Stir in the remaining ingredients.
Simmer, partially covered, for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Divide among 8 containers or plastic bags.
Freeze until ready to use.
To bake a pie, fill a 9-inch double-layer pie crust with mincemeat and bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes or until hot and browned.
