Classic Corn Pone Pie
|Ground beef||1 Pound|
|Chopped onion||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Chili powder||6 Teaspoon|
|Worcestershire sauce||1 Teaspoon|
|Canned tomatoes/1 cup tomato sauce||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Kidney beans||1 Cup (16 tbs), drained|
|Corn bread mix/Favorite recipe for corn bread||8 1⁄2 Ounce (1 Box)|
Brown ground beef and onion in shortening.
Add seasonings and tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
Add kidney beans.
Pour into greased 11/2-quart casserole.
Top with corn bread prepared according to package directions.
Bake 20 minutes or until corn bread is done in 425-degree oven.
Leftover chili is a delicious substitute for meat mixture.
Simply heat; top with corn bread and continue as above.
