Fancy Cherry Pie
|Canned frozen tart red pitted cherries||20 Ounce (2.5 Cup 16 Tablespoon)|
|Sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Cornstarch||1 1⁄2 Tablespoon|
|Baked 8 inch pastry shell and cut outs||1|
Drain cherries; reserve syrup.
Add water to syrup, if needed, to measure 1 cup.
Combine 3/4 cup of the syrup and sugar; heat to boiling.
Add cherries; cook 2 minutes.
Mix cornstarch with remaining 1/4 cup cold syrup; stir into hot mixture.
Cook and stir till thick and clear.
Cool till just warm.
Pour into baked Pastry Shell.
Let stand several hours.
Top with baked Cutouts.
