Date Macaroon Pie
|Finely chopped dates||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|White sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Beat egg whites, water and vanilla together until they form stiff peaks.
Crush saltines fine and add remaining ingredients to whites, fold in.
Butter 9-inch pie plate and pour mixture into it.
Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 30 minutes.
Cut into wedges and serve with whipped cream, garnished with maraschino cherry.
