Line a 9" plate with pastry having a fluted edge, Cook sugar and syrup to 228°F., or until mixture thickens.
Beat eggs well; add hot syrup slowly, while continuing to beat.
Next add the melted butter, vanilla, and nuts.
Pour into the pie shell; bake in a hot oven of 450ºF for 10 min., and then in a slow oven of 300ºF for 35 min.
Cool, and serve in small pieces with or without whipped cream.
