Apple Betty Pie
|Tart apples/1 no. 2 can (2 1/2 cups) sliced apples, drained||4 Cup (64 tbs), sliced (pared)|
|Orange juice||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Mound apples in buttered 9-inch pie plate; sprinkle with orange juice.
For topping, combine sugar, flour, spices and salt; cut in butter until mixture is crumbly; then scatter over apples.
Bake in moderate oven (375°) 45 minutes or until apples are done and topping is crisp and lightly browned.
Trim with twisted orange slices tacked with cloves.
Serve warm with pitcher of light cream or scoops of vanilla ice cream.
