Brown Sugar Pear Pie
|Double pie crust||1 (Homemade / Store Bought)|
|Canned pear halves in heavy syrup||90 Ounce, drained (3 Cans, 30 Ounces Each)|
|Dark brown sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (Add More Quantity, As Per Taste)|
|Instant tapioca||1 Tablespoon (Or Quick Cooking)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Place oven rack in lowest position.
Preheat oven to 400°.
Line the pie pan with one crust.
Toss pears lightly with brown sugar and tapioca.
Pour into pie crust.
Cut butter into little bits and sprinkle over pears.
Top with second crust.
Crimp edges and cut a steam hole in center.
Bake at 400° for 25 minutes or until crust is browned.
If using fresh pears, bake a bit longer until pears are soft when poked with a knife through the steam hole.
Serve hot or cold with a big scoop of vanilla or rum raisin ice cream.
