|Lean ground beef||2 Pound|
|Onion||1 , chopped|
|Green pepper||1 , chopped|
|Canned tomatoes||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Chopped pimento||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Canned kidney beans||2 Cup (32 tbs), drained|
|Angostura bitters||1 Tablespoon (Aromatic Bitters)|
|Corn muffin mix||12 Ounce (1 Package)|
Brown the beef, onion and green pepper in melted shortening, then add the tomatoes and salt.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
Stir in the pimento, kidney beans and angostura bitters and heat through.
Pour into greased 2-quart baking dish.
Prepare corn muffin mix according to package directions for dumplings.
Spoon dumplings close together, around edge of casserole, to form solid border.
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
