Deep Dish Apple-Cheese Pie

Ingredients
  Pie pastry 1 (For 8 Inch Pie Shell)
  Thinly sliced apples 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Eggs 2 , lightly beaten
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs), scalded
  Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
  Creamed cottage cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Line ungreased 8-inch square pan with pastry.
Brush with slightly beaten egg white.
Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Arrange apple mixture in pastry-lined pan.
Bake 15 minutes at 425° F.
Mean while, combine eggs, sugar, salt, milk, vanilla, and cottage cheese; blend thoroughly.
Remove baked apple mixture from oven.
Reduce heat to 325° F.
Pour custard mixture over apples.
Return to oven; bake 40 to 50 minutes at 325° F.
Cool before serving.
