Apple Deep Dish Pie

|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Lemon juice||1 Teaspoon|
|Pared cored tart apple slice||6 Cup (96 tbs) (1/4" Thick)|
Start heating oven to 425°F.
Combine sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice, and butter.
Arrange apples in 10"x6"x2" (1 1/2-qt.) baking dish; sprinkle with sugar mixture.
Roll pastry to fit top of dish with 1/2 " overhang; cut several small slits for steam vents or make Cutout Vents.
Lay pastry loosely over apples; fold overhang under; press onto rim firmly with upturned tines of floured fork.
Bake 40 min., or until apples are done.chopped nuts, date slices, or flaked coconut, or 8 large marshmallows, before adjusting top crust.
