In a large bowl, combine the sugar, butter, cinnamon, eggs, nutmeg, cornstarch and vanilla.
Beat on low speed until well blended and uniform.
Add the buttermilk and mix well.
Pour into the uncooked pie shell and bake at 350° for about 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.
