Place cucumbers, onions and garlic cloves in a large pan; add salt.
Cover with crushed ice and mix thor- oughly; let stand for 3 hours.
Combine sugar, turmeric, celery seed, mustard seed and vinegar in large kettle; bring just to a boil.
Add cucumbers and onions.
Bring just to a boil; heat through.
Seal in hot, sterilized jars.
