Bread And Butter Pickles

Ingredients
  Pickling cucumbers 18 (4 Inch)
  Onions 6 Small, thinly sliced
  Salt 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cider vinegar 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Celery seed 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Mustard seed 1 Tablespoon
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Turmeric 1 Teaspoon
  Sugar 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Directions

Scrub cucumbers and thinly slice without peeling.
Alternate cucumbers and onion slices in a bowl.
Sprinkle a little of the salt between each layer.
Leave 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
Simmer 5 minutes.
Rinse cucumber and onion slices under cold water to remove salt and drain.
Add to boiling syrup and boil 1 or 2 minutes.
Pack in hot sterilized sealers and seal.
