Bread And Butter Pickles

Ingredients
  Cucumbers 4 Pound, cut into thin slices
  Thinly sliced onions 2 Pound
  Canning salt 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Vinegar 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Mustard seed 2 Tablespoon
  Turmeric 2 Teaspoon
  Celery seed 2 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Peppercorns 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Combine cucumber and onion slices in large bowl.
Layer with salt and cover with ice cubes.
Let stand 1 1/2 hours; drain and rinse.
Place remaining ingredients in large sauce pot and bring to a boil.
Add drained cucumbers and onions and return to a boil.
Pack hot into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch head space.
Remove air bubbles.
Adjust caps.
Process 10 minutes in boiling water bath.
