Chef Todd Mohr Talks About Cooking
http://www.WebCookingClasses.com Learn cooking basics as Chef Todd Mohr explains the purpose and mission of "Cooking Coarse", his daily culinary vlog. Forget written recipes! Cook as a painter paints, with artistic interpretation, using standard cooking methods to overcome the frustration of the written recipe and start creating your own dishes.
Chef Todd Mohr who seldom fails to inform and entertain figures in this very interesting video that shows you how to ‘cook your recipe’…no, not cooking with the ingredients, but cooking the actual recipe on the paper by burning it in a sauté pan.
What is the point to this madness? Well Chef Todd says that cooking is an art and is thus open to artistic interpretation and is not bound by the rules and ingredients laid down by the thick cook books written by heavy weight cooks and connoisseurs. He says that one of the most important things for the home cook to do is to cook by the recipe. There are many and seemingly endless variations that are possible when one goes down to follow a recipe and the end product may not even be to your liking because the recipe was written by someone else who thought that it suited his/her taste!
Chef Todd gives out the simple and delightful message that a cook is like an artist and his/her dish is an art form which he/she makes with loving care and it does not stand to follow any standard recipe as there can never truly be such a thing as a standard recipe in all the sense of the term. Chef Todd asks all the viewers to consider the variations in a recipe and cook in different ways with new or more to get what you like and what you are proud of as your creation as a cook, as an artist. When one follows a recipe one creates one dish but when one applies the basic cooking method, one can create not one but many different and varied dishes, each of them unique.
