|Sugar||3 Tablespoon (Preferably Chinese Rock Sugar)|
|Water||3 Fluid Ounce (75 Milliliter)|
|Cinnamon sticks/Chinese cinnamon bark||2|
1 Peel the pears and halve them
2 Remove the core and seeds.
3 In a pan, combine the sugar and water.
4 Boil until the sugar has completely dissolved.
5 Let cool slightly.
6 In a shallow bowl, put the pears, sugar-water and cinnamon together.
7 Set up a steamer or put a rack into a wok or pan.
8 Add about 2inches (5cm) of water and bring to a boil.
9 In the steamer or on to the rack, put the bowl of pears.
10 Lower the heat and cover the wok or pot tightly with a lid.
11 Let the pears steam for about 15-25 minutes until they are tender.
12 Drain all the liquid and cinnamon stick or bark into a small saucepan, once the pears are cooked.
13 Boil the reserved liquid and reduce to a syrup.
14 Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.
15 Pour the syrup over the pears and serve at once.
You can let the mixture cool, cover it with clingfilm and refrigerate until you are ready to serve it.
