Spiced Pears

Ingredients
  Pears 8 , peeled and cored
  Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Artificial sweetener 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cinnamon stick 1
  Lemon rind strip 2
  Whole cloves 1 Teaspoon
  Ginger slice 1 Inch
Directions

MAKING
1) In a saucepan, mix together water, sweetener, cinnamon, rind, clover and ginger.
2) Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce the heat to low.
3) Simmer for 5 minutes.
4) Place the whole pears and let it cook on low heat until tender.

FINALIZING
5) With a slotted spoon remove the pears in a bowl.
6) Simmer the remaining mixture for 3 minutes more.
7) Strain the liquid and pour over pears.
8) Let it cool down a bit and then place the bowl in refrigerator until chilled.

SERVING
9) Cut each pear in half.
10) Serve two halves each dessert plate and spoon the liquid on top.
11) Garnish with mint sprig or lemon slice if desired.
