Stewed Spiced Pears
|Pears||12 , peeled|
|Firm ripe pears||12 , peeled, cored, and cut into slices|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vanilla essence||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Blanched almonds||3 Ounce|
|Whole almonds||3 Ounce, blanched|
1) In a food processor fitted with the steel blade, put the lemons and blend until the lemons become coarse paste.
2) In a large saucepan, put the lemon paste along with the pears, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, and almonds.
3) Cover with lid and cook over moderate-low heat for 40 minutes, mixing once in a while.
4) Now discard the cinnamon sticks and serve the stewed pears with heavy cream, if desired.
