1 In a large frying pan,place pared pears.
2 In a 1-cup measure, combine syrup, water and lemon juice ; pour over the pears.
3 Add butter or margarine; cover.
4 Heat to boiling; simmer, basting once or twice with syrup in the pan, for about 40 minutes, or just until the pears are tender. Cool.
5 Spoon into the dessert dishes and top each with a spoonful of syrup.
