Hot Gingered Pears
|Canned pear halves||58 Ounce (2 Cans, 1 Pound, 13 Ounces Each)|
|Cinnamon sticks||2 (2 Inch Size)|
|Lemon juice||4 Teaspoon|
|Grated lemon peel||1 Teaspoon|
|Grated orange peel||1 Teaspoon|
|Chopped crystallized ginger||2 1⁄2 Tablespoon|
|Ground ginger||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
Drain pears well, reserving 1 1/2 cups syrup.
In 2-quart bowl, combine reserved syrup, 10 cloves, cinnamon sticks and nutmeg.
MICROWAVE 4 to 6 MINUTES on HIGH, or until mixture boils.
MICROWAVE 4 MINUTES on '6'.
Remove and discard cloves.
Add lemon juice, lemon and orange peels, gingers and butter.
MICROWAVE 4 to 6 MINUTES on '6', or until slightly thickened.
Arrange pear halves in (12 x 8-inch) baking dish.
Insert 1 or 2 cloves in each.
Pour hot syrup over pears.
MICROWAVE 5 MINUTES on '6', basting pears with syrup several times.
Serve hot or cold.
Will keep in jars several days, refrigerated.
