Southern Style Black Eyed Peas
|Dried black eyed peas||1 Pound, washed|
|Bacon piece/Salt pork||1⁄4 Pound, cut into 1 inch cubes (1 Slice)|
|Water||1 1⁄2 Quart|
|Cayenne pepper||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
1. In a large Dutch oven or a kettle, add peas, bacon, and water
2. Cover with lid and place on a medium low flame.
3. Simmer peas for 2-2 1/2 hours until soft.
4. Season with salt and pepper
5. Serve hot along with potatoes to accompany roasts or grilled meats.
