A Pasty, also spelt “Pastie” in the United States, is a baked dish prepared by baking pastry dough stuffed with meat and vegetable filling. A Pasty is quite similar to a pie, the difference is that pasty recipes require the dough to be shaped into a circular shape, over which the filling is placed onto one side and the other side is folded and then baked. A traditional Cornish Pasty is prepared with the filling of beef, onion, Swedish turnip and potatoes. There are many variations to a Pasty, such as Cheese Onion Pasty, Keema Pasty and Pasty Tomato Tempter.
