Mock Puff Pastry
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), chilled|
|Ice water||2 Tablespoon|
Sift flour with salt into a small bowl.
Cut in shortening with two knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles cornmeal.
Gradually stir in water until mixture follows fork around bowl.
On a pastry cloth or floured board, roll chilled dough into an oblong 1/8 inch thick.
Dot surface with butter.
Roll up as for jelly roll.
Roll out again in an oblong and fold in sides to make 3 layers.
Roll out again in same manner.
Repeat two more times.
When ready to bake pie, roll to fit top of casserole.
