Lobster Pasta

Lobster pasta is a pasta dish consisting of lobsters as one of the main ingredients, which is cooked into a sauce consisting of various other ingredients like olive oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes, wine, cream, salt, pepper and flavoring herbs. The dish is served hot, as an appetizer or a side or main dish. It can be prepared in the form of variations such as Lobster and Shrimp Pasta and Pasta with Lobster and Tarragon. Lobsters are a form of seafood rich in healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and lobster pasta is a popular feature of various coastal cuisines.

 

Lobster Pasta Recipe Overview

Ingredients: Ingredients used for preparing the dish include lobsters, pasta, olive oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes, cream, and flavoring agents like basil or cinnamon. Broth or wine may also be included in the dish. Salt and pepper are used for seasoning.

 

Method of Preparation: To prepare the dish, lobsters are first cooked in boiling water till bright red, after which, they are cut into half lengthwise. Garlic and onions are sautéed in heated olive oil in a skillet, and the lobsters are also added to this and cooked for a few minutes. Tomatoes are then added in, and the mixture is boiled, followed by addition of olive oil, cinnamon, salt and pepper. The sauce is further cooked and cream is poured in, cooking on low heat and stirring constantly. Meanwhile, pasta is cooked in plenty of boiling salted water till al dente, and then drained. The pasta is then tossed with this sauce to make the dish.

 

Serving Suggestions

Lobster pasta is served hot, with a garnish of grated cheese, chopped parsley, and/or lobster halves.  It may be served as a starter, side or main dish.

 

Lobster Pasta Recipe Variations

  • Lobster and Shrimp Pasta: This version is prepared by cooking lobster and shrimp meat with garlic and onions which have been sautéed in heated oil, cooking till the shrimp is opaque. Tomatoes, wine and seasonings are then added in, and the sauce cooked by simmering and then tossed with cooked pasta.
  • Pasta with Lobster and Tarragon: This version is prepared by addition of fresh tarragon sprigs to the pasta sauce while it is cooking by simmering as per the standard recipe.

 

Nutritional Information

Lobsters are a rich source of low fat protein, and are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are extremely beneficial for fighting diseases and boosting immunity. They are also a good source of selenium, potassium, zinc, copper and vitamin B12. Lobster pasta incorporates these benefits.
